Mountainhead has been working on this EP for 4 or more years. Wyatt Granger, the guitarist/vocalist describes it as a quilt of production due to the many different techniques and studios used to record each song.

“We moved around a lot while we were recording.”
The show was thrilling and comfortable. Every person that showed up knew each other or had a mutual friend; Mountainhead. This made for a fun and relaxed atmosphere which made the music enjoyable. I could tell that the Prog-rock duo was comfortable onstage tonight. They were among enthusiastic friends that visibly enjoy the music and participate in the banter.
Mountainhead’s music is hard hitting and technical with proggy themes on top of poppy elements. Audrin Baghaie is a fantastic drummer with observably perfect tempo and sings a mean back-up vocal. The beats are not complex in time-signature but rather complex in composition with synchronized hits, stops, and accents lining up with the vocals or guitar parts. Wyatt’s guitar parts set the mathy theme with the occasional use of chromatic scales. However, I can’t deny it is rock and roll when Wyatt busts out the tasty pentatonic solos.
“We wanted to play everything we ever wrote for you but god damnit the fucking limitations!”
Said Wyatt about 15 minutes into the set. I didn’t understand why he said that. The show went on for almost 50 minutes after that. Maybe they had even more music to play which would have been quite impressive given that they played more than an hour. Not many local bands can fill a one-hour set. Mountainhead did it with grace and attitude. Anger and playfulness. It was a fantastic show; too bad this was their last.
