Best Locally Owned Places To Eat After Midnight

It seems to be that part of being a millenial is being always hungry. We spend 90% percent of our time deciding what we want to eat next! If you live in a city like Albuquerque, you understand that almost every place is closed by 9pm which can be a real inconvenience if you work nights (most of us do). Yea, McDonald’s and Taco Bell are open after midnight but we know very well that these aren’t the healthiest options and definitely not the most delicious. That’s why I’ve made a list of the best locally owned places to eat after midnight.

Frontier

It seems frontier is always open. Locals flock here in the morning, afternoon, evening, and late at night. It’s basically every Burqueno’s go-to for a late-night meal. The entire menu is available all day which is awesome when you’re craving Huevos Rancheros at 2 am (believe me, it happens). The service is super-fast and occasionally friendly! I recommend the burritos, or breakfast platters all the way. However, the fish sandwich with green chile and cheese is awesome. So are the burgers. Oh, and the enchiladas. Well… Everything is amazing at Frontier.

Sister Bar

This place has the right vibe if you’re looking for a casually delicious meal. Alibi awarded them “Best Bar Food” in 2017. You can do much more than eat here. There are pinball machines, arcade games, live music, and of course, interesting people. The wait for the food isn’t long, their kitchen staff is on point. They are very picky about who they let into the bar so it can be considered a safe environment. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options for those of us who look out for that sort of thing. I especially love the vegetarian burrito. Only catch is that the food is off limits if you’re under 21 because they won’t even let you in the door.

Brickyard Pizza

My favorite pizza in town is open until 1:30 am. Thank God! Every slice is made fresh to order so the wait can be up to 15 minutes but you don’t really mind. You’re just hungry, maybe a little drunk, and craving delicious pizza at one in the morning. Start off with the garlic knots with green chile and order a classic slice of pepperoni. The Last Call

Burqueno’s are really happy that The Last Call has two locations. The Downtown location is only open on Friday and Saturday and it’s a blessing that they are open even after 2 am sometimes. It’s perfect if you’re already in the area. The Nob Hill location is open until 1 am and tastes just as good as the Downtown location. Burritos and Tacos are the best way to go here. They get done quickly and are always delicious.

Food Trucks and “Taco Man” Downtown

There are various food trucks that serve delicious food until 2 am. They park on Central between 3rd and 5th starting around 6 pm and I bet you’ll never have a tastier pulled pork sandwich, or green chile cheese fries than the one cooked in these food trucks. “Taco Man” usually sets up shop outside of the Launchpad and makes beef tacos, burritos and quesadillas. His specialty is the quesarito which is a burrito wrapped in a quesadilla and I’m convinced that Taco Bell stole this idea from him. Even if they didn’t, “Taco Man” does it a million times better. What is great about the food trucks and taco stands downtown is that you don’t have to set foot in a bar to access this delicious food so you and your underage friends can enjoy some late-night grub.
