The Last Call is like a hidden gem because it seems to be that only fierce locals know about it. I first heard of them late-2015 when I overheard someone saying, “there is this burrito place by my work that puts French fries in their burritos”. Humble Coffee Review
I have some time between errands one early afternoon and I remember a friend telling me about the best coffee shops she likes in town. Humble is high on the list for her. I, personally, had never been to Humble even though I have lived in downtown Albuquerque for almost a year and I got to see the construction of Humble’s new location on Central, yet, I hadn’t found much time to pay them a visit. I have a couple of hours to kill so I decide today is gonna be the day I try out Humble Coffee Company. Continue reading “Humble Coffee Review”

Eldorado Bakery: 10/10 Review
Don’t be fooled by the name. This place serves much more than just bread and pastries. Everything I value about a food-service establishment can be found at Eldorado Bakery. Fresh-made food, quality ingredients, and superb customer service. Walk in on a Sunday morning and you’ll see that half of Albuquerque thinks this is the best place to get menudo on the weekends. Best Barbacoa in ABQ “Barbacoa El Primo”
It’s not boastful for El Primo to claim that his barbacoa is “Simplemente la Mejor” which means “Simply the Best”. He’s only stating the obvious. He’s just saying what everybody is thinking. If you’ve never had barbacoa before, you probably don’t understand how large of a claim this is. Barbacoa is a slow-cooked tender beef with a lot of flavor and a lot of fat. Essentially any barbacoa that you get at a restaurant is pre-made frozen or refrigerated but Barbacoa is like pizza; Even if it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. El primo makes their barbacoa in-house using a special recipe and it is especially tender and flavorful. Think of the best pizza you’ve ever had in your life and that is what El Primo’s barbacoa is compared to any other barbacoa. Continue reading “Best Barbacoa in ABQ “Barbacoa El Primo””
Best Place to Get Tacos In Albuquerque
It’s not hard to make a list of The Best Places to get Tacos in Albuquerque. We have so many great places that it can be overwhelming but although almost every restaurant in town has some type of taco, not all tacos are created equal. Tacos are a popular Mexican street food. Usually made with different types of meat, topped with onions, cilantro and salsa on small corn tortillas. Continue reading “Best Place to Get Tacos In Albuquerque”

The Talking Hours Album Release Show at Sister
One of the many reasons I have a love/hate relationship with Downtown ABQ is that we are a small enough town that you can run into people you know every weekend. It can be good or it can be bad. Thankfully, it was G O O D last night. I ran into The Talking Hours’ album release show! I was walking by Sister bar on Central, I wasn’t going to go in because I was headed to Burt’s Tiki Lounge to meet up with friends but I saw the event schedule by Sister’s front door it said, “THE TALKING HOURS 11:11-12:12”. I was just in time to catch the entire show. My friends had to wait.
Breve Crepes & Coffee: 10/10 review
It’s a warmer-than-should-be, late-November afternoon and I’m finishing up a nice walk through my neighborhood. I walk by the Simms building and I’m reminded of the one time I went to Breve and how long it has been since then; more than a couple of years. It’s the perfect time because I’m hungry, thirsty, and I haven’t had a cheat-day on my diet in a while. Continue reading “Breve Crepes & Coffee: 10/10 review”
